About

Sally Jenkinson

Currently working as Head of Technology at Lightmaker UK, my experience spans development, management, strategy and sales. I have over 6 years commercial experience in web development along with an academic foundation gained from studying with Northumbria University in Newcastle as well as with the Open University.

Development-wise, I have experience in a wide range of areas including (but not limited to) several server-side languages, database design and development, as well as front-end development. My experience is very much development over design and I would never claim to be a designer, however I do enjoy dabbling on occasion outside of my day job.

I am currently venturing into the world of speaking, and spoke at events in Paris and Brussels in May 2011. I would love to do more speaking in the future, so please get in touch if you would like to discuss any opportunities. In addition to speaking at events aimed at industry professionals I am especially keen to encourage more young people to get involved in the industry, and as such have given talks at Hillview School for Girls, as well as Brunel University.

Other interests

In my spare time I pursue a wide range of interests in addition to carrying out freelance work. These include photography, learning Japanese, gaming, collecting records, urban vinyl, skiing, playing football, playing guitar, films, good food and wine, comics, and live music. In my youth I lived in Jakarta, Indonesia for 8 years which has left me with the (somewhat rusty) ability to speak Indonesian along with a great fondness for travel.
